about

In 2011, my friend and collaborator Edan Cohen and I devised a plan to get me to Kolkata (Calcutta), India to study Indian slide guitar with the great Debashish Bhattacharya, my Guruji (teacher and guide).
A Kickstarter campaign was successfully funded, flights were paid for and, while in India, I booked some recording time and was lucky enough to have Guruji, his tabla-playing brother Subashis and his singer daughter Sukanya contribute to the tracks, among others. Further recording was done back in Philly with some of my crew here, most notably co-producer Alfred James Goodrich on cello.
Tripti in Hindi translates as 'satisfaction'. It happens to be Guruji's lovely wife's name and was also the name of the restaurant I ate at a lot in Kolkata! It also sounds like 'trippy' which would describe my trip to India! Enjoy!
